An alumnus of India's two apex armed forces officers training institutes, National Defense Academy & Indian Military Academy, Akhilesh was commissioned in the Indian Army's elite regiment, "The Brigade of the Guards". A trained paratrooper, Akhilesh has been exposed to several conflict situations of varied intensities including conventional warfare, high altitude operations, counterinsurgency, terrorism and internal security assignments. He has been at the cutting edge of engagements with enemy troops in the daunting Siachen glacier and secessionist insurgents in India's volatile northeastern region. Akhilesh is an operationally hardened expert in counter terrorism and internal security in the Indian context.

After release from the Indian Army, Akhilesh was deeply involved in the corporate security function of large corporates. He led the regional security functions of India's premier civil aviation company and in that capacity organised & enforced anti hijacking measures and contributed to risk profiling, crisis management and security audit initiatives.

Later, he was initiated into the risk mitigation industry as the practice head for a special task group of the then Asia's leading Risk Management Company in India, based out of New Delhi. In the discharge of this function, Akhilesh successfully undertook and was responsible for comprehensive brand protection operations and risk management assignments for MNC market leaders in India and Nepal and also concluded some immensely complex covert investigations. Akhilesh leverages his keen understanding of market malpractices and security dynamics while leading TACT India. Several MNC and domestic market leaders have benefited from his strategic consulting on business risks that firms usually encounters in developing markets like India.

Akhilesh is a "Certified Fraud Examiner" and till recently had been a member of INTA's (International Trademark Association) Anti-Counterfeiting and Enforcement Subcommittee for South Asia, Middle East and Africa.
